John Taylor Drops Out of 20th Senate Race, Opening the Door for Mark Totten to Beat Robert Jones

Hearing that John Taylor had dropped out of the Michigan Senate’s 20th District Race made my day. Not because I don’t like John Taylor or was opposed to his candidacy – I’ve actually never commented on either. What this means, however, is that Mark Totten has a real chance to beat Robert Jones in the primary.

On that point, I’d like to note that it is my earnest belief that the election of Robert Jones is the worse possible outcome for the people of the 20th district. If you haven’t seen my short video about him, here it is again:

Robert Jones is also bad for WMU students. His bill to hack up the Colony Farm Orchard and sell it off to private businesses is going to cost WMU students nearly $1 million. You can read my list of reasons not to vote for him here.

Mark Totten is the only candidate running for the state senate seat who isn’t a career politician. Wenke and Schuitmaker are both “victims” of term limits. Jones and DeShazor are both career politicians looking to stay in power a bit longer. I’m not endorsing Mr. Totten by any means, but he is certainly better than Jones by any objective standard.

Going to Church Isn’t the Point(0)

It’s a common criticism or point to make, yet we can and will always find ground to make it: going to church is not a substitute for living through Christ. I’ve seen a lot of people in my life who use the action of going to church as the bar or part of a checklist

“If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” – John 8:36 “there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” -Romans 8:1 We are all guilty over something. After all, we are all sinners and Christians in particular are more aware of our inherently sinful nature.

Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his
